This is the site for news you think you should be hearing about our communities. Over the past ten years, this area has grown more than 30%. Many of you are new and there has been no road map available for you to access activities in your area.
Recently, we had an election and I am guessing those of you who have lived here for years, didn’t recognize the names on your ballot because the district lines moved so drastically due to the population growth. We even got a brand new congressional district because of all the new residents.
It has been over 10 years since the local effort to publish the Parkland-Spanaway POST. Times have changed. Print newspapers are difficult to fund. So we decided to try an on-line paper. If you are from a local organization that has a story to tell, we invite you to write it and we will upload it to the site. We will hold to some standards of discretion of course, but news is news.
Upcoming local events will be featured before they happen, so we can make sure residents can plan a great outing in their own community. To have jobs near home, we need to do what we can to improve the economy in our own neighborhood. We hope to feature stories on local business that we know are exceptional to which you should pay a visit.
The Pierce Prairie Post is licensed under the auspices of the Spanaway Community Association, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation of the State of Washington. We are in the process of developing advertising rates and other details. If you would like to donate to our endeavor, that is also welcome. We are also hoping to create an endowment fund to continue to provide this important information service in our area. If you know a philanthropist, give him or her our contact information.
We love our suburban and rural areas in the middle and southern parts of Pierce County. After reading all the other great things that happen or have happened out here, we hope you will love it as much as we do!
