The last weekend of July was the Celebrate Spanaway street fair, held at the Marymount Event Center. Since this blog is new, we weren’t around to tell you about it in advance. It was probably one of the reasons we realized we needed a local paper to let you know what’s happening out there.

So be sure to get to the Garfield Street Fair in Parkland on Saturday for some good local entertainment, food, music and family fun, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Free. 405 Garfield St. S., Tacoma.
