This coming weekend, August 25 and 26, is the Lacamas Community Fair. This event is the closest you’ll get to a down home, local community fair. Kids with bunnies, cavies, goats and other farm animals bring them out for competition. Everyone is welcome to participate, you don’t have to be 4H or FFA or even young, just young at heart. Entry forms are available on the link above. There are no entry fees or age limits. There are competitions for home economics, horticulture, arts and crafts, and under miscellaneous, a rope bridge and lego challenge. The Fair Book tells all their categories. The events are all free and there is no fee to come visit and watch all the competitions.
The Lacamas Community Center is located where the Lacamas School was once operated. The Community Fair has been in operation since 1929. Their web site urges urban people to come out and enjoy all the interesting benefits of their rural area.
The Lacamas Community Center is located at 32113 8th Avenue South, Roy. Keep in mind although that’s a Roy address, it is several miles from the town of Roy. If you head south from the Roy-Y in Spanaway, turn left before you reach the first railroad tracks on SR507. That is 8th Avenue South. If you are approaching from SR702 (352nd St.) you will turn North at 8th Avenue South, the opposite direction is called Harts Lake Loop Road.
See you this weekend at the best fair in Pierce County!
