Federal school lunch changes – Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act

Starting this year, as part of the school meal program, students will be required to have at least 1/2 cup of fruits and/or vegetables on their tray each day. This change is a direct result of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act. Our Child Nutrition staff are planning to offer a variety of healthy options for kids to choose from on their fresh fruit and vegetable bars.

Free & Reduced Meals Application – Reminder

Bethel School District is now accepting on-line free and reduced meal applications at https://emealapps.bethelsd.org.  Families who have limited Internet access, can get the applications at the Child Nutrition department or at any school office.  Hard copies of the application are also available in each school office or in school kitchens.  Families who are applying for Free and Reduced meals will need to send their students with either a cold lunch or lunch money, until they receive a letter from the Child Nutrition department confirming their child’s status in the program. For more assistance, call (253) 683-6912.
