Pierce Transit Route 402 to end September 30

Bags have been placed over Route 402 signs

As of September 30, Pierce Transit is making several route changes. The 402 that served from the WalMart in Spanaway to South Hill Puyallup and on to North Meridian will no longer be in service. These cut backs stem from the transit proposition failure last year. Since that time, several cities including Sumner, Bonney Lake and Orting, requested to be removed from the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) taxing district. Parts of unincorporated Pierce County including Spanaway south of 208th and east of 25th Avenue have also been removed from the RTA. This is a link to the new service area map. Pierce Transit has a public hearing on October 8th at the transit office and a hearing on Proposition 1 at the Parkland/Spanaway Library on Oct. 16.

The Transit Development Plan (TDP) reports on Pierce Transit’s annual operating budget, capital investments and business strategies and is submitted to the Washington State Department of Transportation annually. This year’s TDP highlights agency work accomplished in 2011; provides a general outline of services and facility changes anticipated 2012-2017; and financial elements, both operating and capital, budgeted for 2012 and projected for 2013-2017. Once finalized, Pierce Transit will use the TDP to guide specific development of upcoming service designs, business strategies and budget considerations.
