Franklin Pierce District students honored with Elizabeth Wesley awards

The Franklin Pierce School  s recently announced 27 students have received incentive awards from the Elizabeth Wesley program. 18 students from Washington High School (WHS) and 9 students from Franklin Pierce High School (FPHS) were honored on Saturday, September 15 at an annual event held in Lakewood, which gives out monetary incentive awards to African American high school students who maintain good grades.

Students are eligible to apply for the award if they are in 9th, 10th or 11th grade, and maintained at least a 2.50 GPA in the previous school year. Each year, the exact monetary award is determined by the number of student awardees and the number of contributors from the community.

In addition, Washington High School student Madeline Roberts received a $1,000 scholarship from the Tacoma Fire Department at the event.

Congratulations to all these hard-working students!
