Bethel Students to participate in ‘Healthy Youth Survey’

BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — During the week of October 15-19, students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 will be asked to complete the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey. The survey measures health risk behaviors that contribute to morbidity, mortality, and social problems in youth.

Students will be asked questions on alcohol, tobacco, and drug use, as well as health, fitness, and safety.  School climate, quality of life, and other risk and protective factors will also be assessed.

School districts, community-based organizations, local health and human service agencies, and state agencies use the results to monitor the health of adolescents and track progress on state and federal education and health-related goals.

Data from the Healthy Youth Survey is compared with national and other state-level results, which identifies trends and helps guide policies and programs that serve youth.
