Toxic Algae Advisory for Harts Lake has been lifted

TPCHD — The Toxic Algae Advisory for Harts Lake has been lifted. The toxic algae bloom has decreased in size and no longer presents a public health concern.
Toxic algae are capable of producing toxins and, if present in large amounts, can pose a risk to pets and people. Swallowing or prolonged skin contact with the algae may cause illness that might include, muscle weakness, vomiting, diarrhea and/or nausea.
A health concern exists where the toxic algae are visible as a scum on the waters surface that looks like green paint or pea soup.
If you see signs of a new toxic algae bloom or for further information, please call Ray Hanowell at (253)798-2845 or Lindsay Tuttle at (253)798-3530 (ltuttle@tpchd.org )
