Today, October 27 events

Right now you could be at the new Bethel learning Center (21818 38th Ave. E., Spanaway across from the Bethel Middle School) at its first public event, Harvest Fest. From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. there are lcoal vendors there with their products. The event is free to visitors. This event is to benefit the Graham.

The event benefits the projects of the Graham Kapowsin Community Council who work on assisting families in need in the Bethel School District. They are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your contributions are tax-deductible. The Spana-Park Senior Center will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar on October 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at the Spana- Park Senior Center, 325 – 152nd St E, Tacoma, 98445. If you have trouble finding it, it is on the grounds of the old Marymount Academy behind the old gym. You can call 253-537-4854, if you get lost.

The event will feature crafts for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & collectables from local seniors. They will be selling raffle tickets for a quilt and will offer a beef stew lunch for those who are hungry. The price for the lunch has not yet been set.

Tonight, the Parkland-Spanaway Kiwanis will be holding their 10th annual “Holiday Magic” Dinner Auction at the Spanaway Lake High School. The silent auction begins at 5 p.m. and the live auction at 7 p.m. It is their major event to raise money for scholarships given in the Bethel and Franklin Pierce School Districts. They hope to raise $50,000 for scholarships for worthy high school graduates this year. Individual tickets to the event are $30.

Catering the event will be Joeseppi’s Italian Restaurant, dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Joe Stortini will be the auctioneer for the live auction at 7 p.m. The Kiwanis Key Club students from the Bethel and Franklin Pierce Districts will assist in the service of the evening’s events.

The Parkland-Spanaway Kiwanis Foundation is working to make this annual affair perpetually support their future community leaders as they enter their post secondary education. Corporate and business sponsors are encouraged to make donations. Gift certificates and merchandise are also welcome for the silent and live auctions.
