PLU, A Child is Born, Christmas Concerts

The time for awe inspiring music is coming this December.  Please join Pacific Lutheran University’s Choir of the West, the University Chorale and members of the University Symphony Orchestra in what has become one of the region’s most inspirational Christmas celebrations. Students spend hundreds of hours preparing for the five concerts they perform each holiday season. The following video from last year shows why they devote so much of their time and passion to a truly extraordinary concert series.

This year’s Christmas concerts will focus on the theme “A Child is Born.” Tickets will be on sale beginning November 1.

On December 1, 2 and 7 the Choir of the West, University Chorale and members of the University Symphony Orchestra will present joyous anthems, processionals, carols, narration and audience participation at Lagerquist Concert Hall at Pacific Lutheran University. These three concerts are now SOLD OUT.

The Christmas Concert will come to Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, this year on December 3. Beginning in 2009, the acoustically brilliant venue proved a worthy showcase for the talents of PLU’s finest student-musicians, the beginning of what is likely to be a long tradition of great performances at Benaroya Hall.

On December 4, the choirs and orchestra members go south to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, home of the Oregon Symphony and the Portland Opera. The larger hall will allow more music-lovers from the greater Portland area to take part in PLU’s signature musical event, which has historically sold out in the city. Friends and alumni of PLU, save the date – and be sure to plan on bringing some friends.
