PLU’s 61st annual Sankta Lucia Fest, Dec. 2

Pacfic Lutheran University’s Sankta Lucia Fest is December 2 in Lagerquist Hall. Admission is free for PLU students & children under 10. Scandinavian Cultural Center members & Senior Citizens are $5. General Admission is $7.

The highlight of the program is Lucia and her attendants who enter the dimly-lit auditorium by candle light, singing the Sankta Lucia song in Swedish. The festivities continue with singing, dancing, and the telling of the Lucia legend. This year’s festival also includes Mäd Fiddlu, a Nordic folk music trio consisting of Bart Brashers, John Peekstok, and Anna Abraham. Mäd Fiddlu has shared their passion for authentic Scandinavian music with audiences since 2007. Their unique sound is comprised of the Swedish Nyckelharpa (a stringed instrument found in Sweden as early as the 1350’s), cittern and guitar. The program concludes with the audience singing Silent Night (in Swedish and English). The festivities continue in the SCC for the reception — dancing around the Christmas tree and enjoying authentic Swedish refreshments. Tickets are available at the University Center Concierge Desk. Reservations may be made in person or by phone: 253535-7411.

General Admission $8, SCC Members/Seniors/PLU Faculty/Staff/Alumni $6, PLU Students $4, Children 10 and under $3. All major credit cards are accepted. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
