Spanaway Walmart “walled out” on Thanksgiving

After all the controversy about Black Friday starting on the evening of Thanksgiving, the feet did the voting tonight. If the Spanaway WalMart was any kind of barometer, the shoppers are going to be there for a bargain any time they can find one.

Inside the store there were red corrugated towers loaded with goods on sale. Mylar balloons hovered above the temporary shelves sporting bold clack letters telling the special prices on those goods. Shoppers clogged the aisles around the sale bins and clung to the pallets with unwrapped specials whose time had not yet arrived. Electronics appeared to be the biggest favorite.

It looks like the bargain hunters are willing to pass up time with their families on Thanksgiving to get a great deal. So, perhaps, this is the beginning of the end of time off on Thanksgiving for retail workers. The almighty dollar wins again. Sorry grandma.
