BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — Students involved in the Broadway YEAR program are getting ready to put on a fabulous show. This fall, the district and the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts in Tacoma teamed up to offer students Broadway YEAR, an arts-centered, after-school theater program that empowers students, while helping them develop self-esteem, a sense of community, and strong peer relationship skills. In the program, students receive training to build skills in acting, dancing, music, improvisation, visual arts, and written arts.
The Showcase performance will be Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Spanaway Lake HS Auditorium.
This is the district’s second year participating in Broadway YEAR. Schools offering the program are Centennial Elementary, Elk Plain School of Choice, Frederickson Elementary, Kapowsin Elementary, as well as Bethel and Liberty Middle Schools.
Broadway YEAR is funded through the generous support of a Pierce County Community Services Youth Violence Prevention Grant. It is made possible because of the creative and collaborative spirits of the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, Bethel School District, and the wonderful students and families who join the program.
