The School Board of Directors of Franklin Pierce Schools was recently honored as a “2012 School Board of Distinction” by the Washington State School Directors Association.
The School Board was recognized for strong performance in five key areas:
- Providing responsible school district governance.

- Setting and communicating high expectations for student learning, with clear goals and plans for meeting those expectations.
- Creating conditions district-wide for student and staff success.
- Holding the school district accountable for meeting student learning expectations.
- Engaging the local community and representing the values and expectations they hold for their schools.
This is not the first Board of Distinction Award that Franklin Pierce has received. They also won this prestigious award in 2011. Congratulations to Mark Baugarten, John Harstad, Reva Palmer, Mary Sherman and Cole Roberts.
