“Trees for Troops” arrive Nov. 30

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. –For the sixth straight year, JBLM’s Directorate of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation will accept a delivery of Christmas “Trees for Troops,” donated by tree growers and their customers throughout the United States.

Since 2005, Trees for Troops has provided 103,186 Christmas Trees to military families and troops in the United States and overseas. Each year, thousands of Christmas Trees are donated by American farm families and the public, and FedEx delivers these trees to military bases. In 2012 Trees for Troops plans to deliver approximately 18,000 trees at 62 bases.

The “Trees for Troops” are scheduled to arrive here Friday, Nov. 30, at the JBLM Northwest Adventure Center. JBLM is expecting 650 trees from the Christmas Foundation delivered by FedEx. This year JBLM is also receiving an additional 300 trees from Terry Arca of Aqua Arca, Inc., Lakewood, Wash.

Media are invited to cover the 11 a.m. delivery of the trees to the Northwest Adventure Center and the tree presentation to one Army and one Air Force family.
