Fire District Commissioner Appointment Available

CENTRAL PIERCE FIRE & RESCUE  – At a Special Meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners held on November 5, 2012, the Board declared one Fire Commissioner position vacant for the unexpired term ending December 31, 2013.

The Board welcomes registered voters of the District to apply for appointment to this vacancy.  Pursuant to RCW 42.12.070 (4), the Board must fill this vacant position by a majority vote taken at public meetings within the next 90 days.

RCW 42.12.070 (1) states: Where one position is vacant, the remaining members of the governing body shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacant position.

The individual selected will be expected to abide by Policy #303 – Board of Commissioners Meeting, Policies and Procedures and CPFR’s Philosophy and Culture document.

The affairs of the fire district are managed by a Board of Fire Commissioners composed of five registered voters residing within the boundaries of the district.  A voter elected commissioner serves a six-year term and serves the entire community in an “at large” position.

The Board meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month at 6:00 pm and meetings are held at the Headquarters Station – located at 17520 – 22nd Ave. E., Tacoma, WA  98445.  The public is invited to attend these meetings.
