42nd Ave. between 200th Street and 208th Street is currently closed due to police and fire activity. This is Saturday Dec. 15 at 9:45 p.m. Will update when cause and timeframes to reopen are known.

10:15 p.m., road open, one lane only. A fir tree randomly fell, hitting the power lines and breaking the top 20 feet of a pole. The top of the pole in leaning into the trees on the east side of the road. A heavy duty crew is on their way to repair the pole. Ony 5 or 6 houses are affected by the power outage.

Luckily, the trees are wet. The power lines laying on them are grounding into the trees and the ground below. Little flickers along the power lines are visible where the the branches are igniting. Those lines have about 7200 volts each. Currently the crew doesn’t know how quickly the heavy-duty trucks will take to get on site and replace the pole.

[The Post is lucky, this is just a few doors down but we are expected not to lose our electricity.]

8:23 a.m. and they are still out there working on the pole. The crew witht he new pole arrived about 12:30 a.m. There’s still only one lane on 42nd Ave. Flaggers are present.
