Stuff the Bus for Bethel kids

WP_007717a WP_007724 Stuff the Bus has been on site at Fred Meyer and Walmart on Meridian, WalMart on the Mountain Highway and Safeway in Spanaway today, Dec. 15. For a program that got a late start, they did rather well today.

The idea came to a group of Bethel transportation workers while in a Core Class talking with Superintendent Seigel on Dec. 1. Someone said we should stuff the bus and the light bulbs came on all at once. Michelle McGhee, Michele Lile and Jamie Morris worked with their department head Karen Campbell and their Union rep., Kath Larson to clear the way.

Their union, PSE, has an in-house print shop and quickly produced flyers to distribute through the schools, posters and found banners to hang on the buses. The volunteers were out  from 9am to 3pm today and many people were dropping by with food, clothing, supplies and toys for the less privileged in the Bethel District this holiday season. Over half the seats on the buses were filled with items.

The event was so successful, the plan to do this again before the start of school in August and next December. Thank you to all the good-hearted folks who contributed today!WP_007735
