The Pierce County Council process

Note about the Pierce County Council: Ideas for new ordinances or resolutions in Pierce County are first submitted by a particular council member to a sub-committee of the council where it is review and possibly amended. If passed at that level it is possibly submitted to another sub-committee, like Rules and Operations where it must also pass before being taken to the full council.

From the Pierce County Council website:

The Process of Adopting Legislation
The process for considering and approving legislative proposals includes review in open public hearings, consistent with the Open Public Meetings Act. Most legislative proposals are considered first by a committee of the County Council, which makes recommendations to the full Council. Final hearings and decisions are made by the full Council. See our Rules of Procedure for more information.
