The Pierce County Economic Development Department & City of Lakewood Economic Development are presenting a business forum, on Preventing Cyber Crime & Business Identity Theft on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Learn about current and ongoing potential threats to your business and what you can do to prevent or minimize intrusions.
Topics will include:
• Preventing theft of proprietary data such as trade secrets, pricing strategies, supplier costs, customer information
• Protecting corporate legal filings with government that might be compromised and altered
• How retail POS systems, even for mom and pop operations, are being hacked for credit card and banking information and what you can do to protect against this threat
• How new smart phone applications present criminals with new opportunities to steal information and money
• Learn about service sector threats to client confidentiality and financial losses and what you can and should do to keep this from happening and protect your organization and its reputation
