Possibilities 2013: Art and Technology Fair, Saturday, Feb. 23

TechFair2013BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — Be sure to celebrate learning with us this Saturday, Feb. 23 at “Possibilities 2013,” Bethel’s all-district Art and Tech Fair. The annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spanaway Lake High School. Admission is free.

Students will compete in the annual tech challenge — a real-time competition in which students use technology and present work before a panel of judges for prizes. Students and staff will also introduce various classroom projects that show how they integrate technology into their studies every day.

As well, there will be six categories for judging artwork, including K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12. PreK artwork will be displayed, but will not be judged. Ribbons will be awarded to two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces for first, second, third, and honorable mention in each category. Top winners will be placed on display in the district’s main office. Several outstanding pieces may be selected as the Superintendent’s Choice, and will be purchased to become part of the district’s permanent collection.

Our judges this year include Conn McQuinn from ESD 121, Bruce Chhay from Google, and Michael Farmer, Technology Director of Tacoma School District. The concept for this year’s logo was created by SLHS student, Alicia Lajuenesse, who’s sponsoring teacher was Alan Pankau. Sponsors include Micro K12, Learn360, Aruba Networks, Troxell, Saxton Bradley, Blackboard Engage, Blackboard Collaborate, and Atomic Learning.
