WSDOT engineer to speak on the Cross Base Highway to 723 Networking group

Next Thursday morning, March 14th, 2013, at “723 Networking – building business PRIDE in GREATER Spanaway” meeting will have the project engineer from the Washington State Department of Transportation, John Wynands,  give a presentation on the “Cross Base Highway” also known as SR704.

The Cross Base highway was envisioned around 1982 to relive congestion in the Parkland, SR512 interchanges and give Spanaway and Frederickson areas better traffic flow to Interstate 5. The Environmental Impact Statement was completed in the mid-1990’s, and some work has been done to widen the 176th Street corridor west of Pacific Avenue in recent years. Yet, traffic remains very heavy on Spanaway Loop Road to the Steele Street entrance to SR512 and across Perimeter Road south of McChord Field which is a private road owned by the military. The City of Tacoma, Port of Tacoma, Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce and Pierce County Council has made a higher priority this year of completing SR167 to I-5 which is five times the cost of the Cross Base Highway, but does not serve the greater Spanaway, Frederickson area.

“723 Networking – building business PRIDE in GREATER Spanaway” meets every Thursday morning at 701 am at JRs Whistle Stop located at 224th and Mountain Highway.

iI you do business or want to do business in southeast Pierce County 723 is the place for you.
