Saturday’s weather was simply amazing wasn’t it? People were out and about everywhere catching up on their vitamin D. In western Washington, we simply cannot waste a sunny day, especially during the winter.
So late in the evening, I sat down for a quiet chat with my cousin Dave at the Denny’s on Pacific Ave. beside SR512. We soon discovered it was the site for the cast party from Franklin Pierce Cardinal Theater Company’s production of “You Can’t Take it With You.” The show ran March 6 through March 9 and it wasn’t on th Post’s calendar, so we have to make sure that doesn’t happen again!
Cast parties are a special event. Everyone has gotten to know each other, the play is over and there is celebration, joy and sorrow all mixed into one big party. For us, it was a surprisingly entertaining evening at the Denny’s. Almost 30 young people streamed in, most of them still had stage makeup in place and some were still in costume. There was hugging, chatter, giggles and of course, some impromptu drama. As a high school Thespian myself, I remember those parties fondly.
So here’s to a successful run of another great production from the local high school theater company.
