BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — When students go back to school this fall, some may be headed to a different school. To help keep up with a growing student population and changes in grade configuration, the school board is altering school boundary lines for all elementary, middle, and high schools. The Board approved new middle and high school boundary maps in early December and will hold two hearings on elementary boundary changes.
Meetings:
– February 26, Bethel Middle School, 7 p.m.
– March 12, Educational Service Center (ESC), 7 p.m.
Elementary schools most affected by the proposed revisions are Clover Creek, Camas Prairie, Graham, North Star, Kapowsin, Frederickson, Nelson, Shining Mountain, and Rocky Ridge. Copies of all boundary maps can be accessed in the ‘Current Topics’ box. The areas highlighted in RED are scheduled to change schools, if the plan is approved.
Separate elementary and secondary boundary committees, comprised of parents and staff, developed the revised maps following several weeks of study. The boundaries were set with several goals in mind. Most importantly, they were set to even out and sustain enrollment across schools and to provide continued safe and reasonable student transportation.
