Roy hosts public meeting for grant application ideas March 19 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be an open public meeting to collect and share ideas for possible grant projects that the City can apply for under the Rural Town Centers and Corridor Program offered through Puget Sound Regional Council. Members of the general public are encouraged to bring input and join the City’s elected officials, planning commission and staff at this meeting. Project ideas would need to meet such criteria as:

  • Key corridor and/or town center better access
  • Town center improved circulation (filling a missing link, removing barriers)
  • Benefit a range of travel modes and user groups
  • Improved or enhanced pedestrian-oriented environment
  • Remedy an existing safety or other transportation problem (e.g. vehicular, pedestrian or bicycle safety, congestion, incomplete nonmotorized system, etc.)
  • Provide alternatives to driving alone/commute trip reduction
  • More reliable and efficient travel flows
  • Long-term solution
  • Innovative
  • Support adopted city plans
  • Fit the intended character of the rural town center or area in which the corridor resides
  • Interjurisdictional projects possible
