At the Franklin Pierce School Board meeting Tuesday, March 12, Superintendent Hewins announced the receipt of a grant for $1 million toward energy improvements to the HVAC system at Ford Middle School, the Princess Bowl netted $7000 toward the district daffodil float and the award of Washington State Principal of the year to Ford Middle School Principal, Heather Renner.
Washington High Seniors and leadership class members, Jaycee and Manny gave a presentation about exciting events taking place at WHS. March 15 is the cutoff for filing for an ASB office. The election will be March 29. Also on March 15 is a movie night for students at WHS. On March 29, WHS will be the site of the Top Juniors Luncheon. This event involves the academic top 5 students of many local high schools who get together to talk about ways to improve high school campus life.
WHS is also in the top 30 for the 2013 SMASH Make a Musical grant. The five schools receiving the most votes through the online voting contest will each receive a $3,000 gift card from Lowe’s. Gift cards can be used to purchase lumber, steel, hardware, tools, paint, and any other materials that relate directly to improving the school’s performance space.
