RESOLUTION 28 (12-13)
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 403, AUTHORIZING THE SUPERINTENDENT TO PARTNER WITH PIERCE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION IN A COOPERATIVE EFFORT TO SEEK FUNDING FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A REGIONAL PARK/SPORTS COMPLEX IN THE BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, Bethel School District No. 403 (the “District”) has been in discussion with Pierce County Parks and Recreation regarding a partnership with the intent of developing a regional park/sports complex in the Bethel School District; and
WHEREAS, the District possesses the appropriate land for such on the campuses of Bethel High School, Bethel Middle School, Shining Mountain Elementary School and the Bethel Learning Center; and
WHEREAS, there is a mutual interest between Pierce County Parks and Recreation and the District in pursuing funding sources through grant and other opportunities to support this project; and
WHEREAS, Pierce County and the District have a track record of successful partnering with regard to sports complexes; and
WHEREAS, a regional park/sports complex will benefit the youth and adults throughout our community and beyond to include the entire county; and
WHEREAS, Pierce County Parks and Recreation has assisted the District in creating the vision for this project and expressed a willingness to partner with the District; and
WHEREAS, the District Administration has determined that it is in the best interests of the District to engage in a formal partnership with Pierce County Parks and Recreation for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of Bethel School District No. 403 that: The Superintendent is authorized to partner with Pierce County Parks and Recreation in a cooperative arrangement to pursue funding for a regional park/sports complex to be located in the Bethel School District;
