Bethel board meeting highlights April 23

A few photos from the April 23 Bethel School Board meeting.

From the meeting agenda:

The district began its resource conservation program in April 2005. Over the past eight years, the district has saved over $4.7 million in energy costs, due to the costsaving measures that have been instituted. Currently, 22 of the 25 eligible buildings have qualified for the ENERGY STAR award, which is a significant accomplishment.

As a result of the combined efforts of Energy Manager Michael Knaack, staff and students, the district has earned the 2013 ENERGY STAR Leader award. This is earned by organizations that demonstrate environmental leadership by achieving an energy performance score of 75 and above. The district’s energy performance score is 83 (out of 100), which denotes the district as a Leaders Top Performer.

In addition, the district has made a significant reduction of 20% in greenhouse gas emissions and has received a second ENERGY STAR Leader award for Leadership in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

Mr. Robert Drake, representative of the Pollution Prevention Program of the US Environmental Protection Agency, Region 10 will be attending the board meeting to present the ENERGY STAR awards to the district.
