On Tuesday, May 7 the Summit Waller community showed up in force to hear speaker talk about issues dear to their community. The Mid-County community Center  was loaded with chairs os which most were full. Attendees heard from the Puyallup and Franklin Pierce School District, the County Council, the Pierce Prairie Post.com, neighborhood watch, Waller Road cleanup. At the end of the program, Frank Blair spoke about tougher DUI laws as he told the story of his daughter Sheena.

Along the way, SWCA President, Larry Volland spoke of the changes the 20 years has brought to the organization and the methods they use to promote their needs, mostly regarding Pierce County planning and zoning.. Initially, he explained, they would rush down to the County Council and speak out vociferously about changes. He said the councilmen would call him “disingenuous.” Now days, they know more about who to call, present their needs in advance, in a more proactive fashion. The community associations of the county have matured.

Here’s a few photos of the event.
