The story is also all over the evening news. Our aging bridges need more attention than we have been giving them. We could be creating jobs for the unemployed repairing these bridges and updating our infrastructure. That’s how our country got out of the Depression. What’s stopping us now is a zealous religion of austerity that is also harming many of our other national agencies including our schools. As a former school board member, I have had the difficult task of cutting budgets. It is time to recognize the value of investment over strangulation.
God protect and comfort the people, families and friends of those on the Skagit bridge.
