Bob Davidson is a expert when it comes to pin striping, he’s been doing it since 1955. Because he is sought out, there are thousands of car collectors who know him. He is also related to a Bethel High School shop teacher (father in law I believe they said). About 7 years ago, they decided to make a difference in the Spring rite of passing, yearbook day.
Yearbook day is usually the last day of school for Bethel High School Seniors. Today, June 7 was that day. The high school was open to the community to bring in cars. There was an official registration table, a competition with official judges, a barbecue for only $3.50 and free pinstriping for kids who wanted to decorate anything from an iPod to their new annual.
When the Post arrived around 11:30am, the bus parking lot east of the building was full of classic cars, 4 wheelers, motorcycles and other assorted prized modes of transportation. Students were gathered on the hill beside the cafeteria, lined up for pinstripers and gathering crowds in the backs of several pickup trucks. There was a staff guard at the parking lot gate, which was locked to assure no one left early. Collectors of all ages from infant grandchildren to silver-haired seniors chatted and gawked at the sights.
We took a gazillion photos of the fun and exciting event. They are all posted on our Peirce Prairie Post Facebook page. Here we put a few of the best ones. There are several links for Bob Davidson if you do a search on him. Here is one.
Happy summer to the kids of all ages!
