SPANAWAY, WA — Spanaway Lake High School is hosting the second annual Vocal Jazz and Show Choir Summer Camp. It runs through Saturday, June 29 when the group will hold their concert at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $5
Award-winning choreographer Damon Brown, and Music Company director Bernard Crouse are running the camp with the assistance of Katie Elshire, Kerstin Schaffer and Anne Chappell.
Damon Brown is a choreographer, songwriter and show designer from Carmel, Indiana. Since 1983, Damon’s been blessed to work with more than 70,000 students across the USA, and into Canada, England, France, Switzerland and Italy. He was a choreographer for the inaugural FAME All-Stars tour of Europe, and currently choreographs Parade Magazine’s “Favorite Show Choir In America”, Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School of Iowa. 
Over his career, Damon’s worked with over 300 Grand Champions, won over 400 Best Choreography Awards, and judged nearly 150 show choir competitions throughout the USA. Currently, Damon works with 26 high schools, as well as being a consultant with FAME Events and Purdue University.
Spanaway Lake’s choir program features their jazz choir called The Music Company. This group has travelled around the state and to destinations with their singing and choreography. They have performed the National Anthem for the Seattle Mariners, a concert for the Washington State School Director’s Association Conference in Spokane, performed for the Governor of Hawaii and later drew tears from the crowd by singing “In Remembrance” while visiting the U.S.S. Arizona site on Memorial Day.
Saturday wraps up the week-long camp with a family barbecue at noon followed by a concert open to the public at 1:30 p.m. The cost for the concert is $5. Prepare to be dazzled.
