The Town of Eatonville and the City of Roy will both host 4th of July parades at 12 noon on the fourth.
In Roy, people who want to participate in the parade begin lining up as early as 10a.m., but many arrive late between 11:30 and noon. They make it a bit of a last-minute frenzy, but organizers take it in stride. There is no previous sign up for the event. Fire Chief Vellias is in charge of the lineup. Traffic from the highway is rerouted onto Patterson Street and the parade proceeds down the Main Street for a short 4 block show. After the 20 minutes or so for the parade, the City hosts the participants at a potluck in the city park.
In Eatonville, the events are more carefully scheduled. They request you sign up in advance and there is a cost for each participant. Donations are taken and can be mailed to the July 3-4 Community Celebration at P.O. Box 1086, Eatonville, WA 98328. Information is available from Thompson at Thompson’s Licensing Agency (360-832-8366) and fellow organizer Karen Woodcock at All About You Salon (360-832-1722).
Eatonville’s parade is much longer, starting near the high school on Orchard Ave. and then through town. Fireworks were July 3 at the football stadium. [Apologies for the Post being late on this one.]
Everyone have a great time enjoying the Independence Day holiday!
