From June to September, our state’s eastern side agricultural abilities shine and the harvest of cherries, peaches, nectarines, tomatoes, veggies and apples starting coming in droves.
Here on the west side, we enjoy the little fruit stands that open up bringing us samples of those harvest where we can purchase those local gems close to home.
In Parkland, on the Spanaway Loop Road near Tule Lake Road, the Rainier Christian Church and at the doorstep of the Shibig farm is a favorite spot to cruise in for those flavorful vitamin doses. The “Fruit on the Loop” Stand will shortly have a new logo on the side of the truck parks nearby. Connell and Shouna Goodman have been there at least 14 years, adding smiles to our faces and little puckers as we spit out those cherry seeds.
This week they had cherries in$2, $5 and $7 buckets, peaches and white peaches. Next week they’ll have vegetables coming in to add to the vast harvest of goodies.
Thank you Fruit on the Loop for making our tummies and our vitamin levels happier.

Just a note to correct the story on Fruit on the Loop. The owners are Connell and Shouna Goodman, not John nor the last name you quoted.
Thank you Alice, duly corrected. They didn’t have a card and I didn’t have a pencil at the time.
Thanks! They are really good people.
As all of us Spanaway Loop drivers, have been anticipating the return of your one of a kind fruit. We have yet to see your fruit stand open. As I recall your sign has said all year,” return in June” so where are you at?
Hum…….stopped by and purchased some nectarines and was u der the impression the fruit was picked in eastern Washington in the current season and trucked over here to be sold at the fruit stand. Well, surprise, surprise!! Situated in the baskets so they are unseen at the time of purchase, was the little stickers that you find on all veggies and fruit in the stores. These produce is not this season s crops, and,…………they are warehouse stored. I also feel $5 FOR 6 nectarines per basket is not a savings at all. I can do better at the supermarket.
I think they have the BEST cherries 🍒 I have ever had in my life and this year, they were extremely big and super sweet. I compared them to store bought ones from Fred Meyer & Wal-mart and they couldn’t hold a candle to them. I need to buy some more before there’s no more.
