On Sunday evening, July 14, an impaired driver ran the stop sign at B Street and 152nd, driving straight through the fence of a Spanaway home, hitting the porch and landing in the front yard.

It was about 11 p.m. The family was home at the time, having a Sunday family gathering. Members of the family, who were in the back yard at the time, took offense to the 61-year-old intoxicated man who crashed through their yard, they allegedly proceeded to assault him.

When deputies arrived, the driver was unconscious outside of his vehicle. Two members of the family at the home were arrested on assault charges. The driver was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital in Tacoma.

On Monday, the family did not wish to make further comment. The incident occurred at 15109 2nd Ave. E, Tacoma. This is a part of Spanaway that has Tacoma addresses. The home is owned by the Quitugua family.
