The Parkland Raiders Youth football and Cheer Association have been part of the local community for over 35 years servicing the Franklin Pierce and Bethel School Districts. We are a recognized non-profit association by the Secretary of State and the IRS has approved our tax exempt status. The Parkland Raiders have been a great resource for the kids and parents in our community, providing a positive and rewarding outlet for families. We believe that keeping kids involved in sports, reinforcing the value of a good education and teaching them valuable life lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, goal setting, physical conditioning, friendship, and honesty are extremely important when they are young.
For the 2013 fall football season we are fielding 6 football teams 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and a cheer squad. Each year we have a new group of families join our organization to take a 5-6 year journey and another group leaves the program to join the high school ranks. We have about 30 volunteers made up of parents and students that fill critical positions within our organization (coaches, support staff, and booster). Many High School students come back to our organization after the 8th grade to assist on teams and help during games gaining valuable volunteer hours and experience. Collectively we track student’s volunteer hours and the Parkland Raiders provide certificates to each volunteer student to add to their portfolio in preparation for high school graduation.
Currently we track former players as they work their way through High School, college, and for a small group the NFL. We believe that our ability to influence these young student/athletes is not done when the leave our program but it continues as they grow in to young adults.
