Toxic Algae Advisory for Spanaway Lake lifted

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has lifted the Toxic Algae Advisory for Spanaway Lake. The toxic algae bloom has decreased in size and no longer presents a public health concern.

Toxic algae are capable of producing toxins and, if present in large amounts, can pose a risk to pets and people. Swallowing or prolonged skin contact with algae may cause illness that might include, muscle weakness, vomiting, diarrhea and/or nausea.
