Voting

Ballot Drop Boxes

•             Open now.

•             Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week until 8 p.m. on Aug. 6.

•             27 sites across the County.

•             No stamp required for drop boxes.

•             In last year’s General, 168,926 or over 48% of ballots were returned at a drop box.

•             Locations available online at www.piercecountywa.org/elections

Voting Centers

•             Six voting centers across the county.

•             Open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

•             Services provided:

o             Accessible voting using a touch screen machine.

o             Provisional ballots.

o             Voter assistance.

•             Voting Centers are not polling places. They provide special assistance with voting.

What’s on the Pierce County Ballot?

•             26th Legislative District State Senator – State law requires a primary election in a partisan office regardless of the number of candidates.

 

•             Primary elections in the following districts – A primary is required when three or more candidates file for an office.

o             Port of Tacoma

o             Eight cities and towns

                          Auburn, Bonney Lake, DuPont, Eatonville, Lakewood, Pacific, Sumner, Wilkeson,

o             Three school districts

             Puyallup School District No. 3, Peninsula School District No. 401, Fife School District No. 417

o             Two fire districts

             Fire Protection District No. 3 (West Pierce Fire and Rescue)

•             Proposition No. 1 – Property tax levy for maintenance and operations

             Fire Protection District No. 27 (Anderson Island)

o             One park district

             Peninsula Metropolitan Park District

•             Over half of the voters (55%) will only vote on the port race.

KEY MESSAGE: Even though there may only be one or two races on your ballot, it’s important for you to vote. Your vote determines who will advance to the general election.

Release Schedule

•             Election Night, Aug. 6 at 8:15 p.m. (Includes ballots processed through Election Day.) Voting Center results at 9:30 p.m.

•             Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.

•             Thursday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m.

•             Friday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m.

•             Monday, Aug. 12 to Friday, Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. (Dependent upon volume of ballots received each day.)

•             Monday, Aug. 19 at 4 p.m.

•             Tuesday, Aug. 20 – Certification of Election.
