Franklin Pierce School District welcomes new school board member

TACOMA, WA — The Franklin Pierce School District Board of Directors officially filled the vacant Director District 1 board seat at its last regular school board meeting. Mr. Doug Carlson, 47, was appointed to the vacant seat at the Tuesday, August 20 regular school board meeting following an interview of the candidates. He was officially sworn in at the Tuesday, September 10 regular school board meeting. District 1 covers the northwest corner of the school district boundaries.Carlson FPSD

Mr. Carlson has resided it he franklin Pierce School District for the past six years. He has a wife and four children ages 19, 16, 14 and 12. He is the Operations Manager for Pierce College’s Health Education Center at the Fort Steilacoom campus.

Mr. Carlson replaces Mrs. Reva Palmer, who resigned on July 2, 2013, after 14 years of dedicated service to the students, staff and community of the franklin Pierce School District.

Mr. Carlson will serve through the current term, which expires in Novem,ber of 2015 and have the option for election for the following term.
