FP District receives CTE grant of $25,000 to support WHS engineering program

Franklin Pierce Schools has received an announcement indicating a grant award of $25,000 from a Washington State competitive grant program focused on building a stronger aerospace and manufacturing pipeline to employment. The grant is administered by the Office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

Grant recipients will implement components of the Core Plus curriculum into new or existing courses and expose students to aerospace and manufacturing basic technical and work readiness skills. Core Plus is a new industry driven, career-related STEM-based curriculum that focuses on soft and hard skills for advanced manufacturing and industries with similar skill and knowledge requirements. Each grant recipient will also engage industry partnerships (existing advisory committees and regional aerospace and manufacturing business) to validate which components of the Boeing Core Curriculum and the Manufacturing Academy Curriculum they will institute at the school or program receiving the grant funds.

The grant funds will be used to support the engineering program at Washington High School.
