PARKLAND, WA — A few weeks ago, crews from Rhine Demolition came to Parkland and took out the oldest section of buildings on Garfield street as well as the one story section of the old Parkland School. The demolition was to make was for the new Garfield Station which begins ground excavation next week.
After the demolition, the project supervisor from Korsmo Construction donated 36 glass blocks from the old school to the Spanaway Community Association/Pierce Prairie Post.
Our question to you that care about the old school or that have a penchant for art: What should be done with these glass blocks?
If you have a great idea and would like to make an offer for the blocks, comment to this article or write to us at PiercePRairiePost@hotmail.com. Let’s see how creative you are.
The Post would appreciate a contribution for the blocks. We are a non-profit, but we would also like to know that they will be used in a really great and creative way, particularly in a publicly visible fashion.
We have included a photo of the block. The blocks are (in inches) 7-5/8 x 7-5/8 x 3-7/8. Most of them have paint on one side. The school district did that years ago.
What are your ideas? Make your offer…

These work for a translucent window, a wall divider or GREENHOUSE material. What are you asking? – David Trotter (Used to live at 133rd and “C” Streets – (206) 931-9691 (C) – I can use or resell these, either way.
A green house or something at the site would work, too.
If they are still laying around, you could ask if we who went there might want one. My 50th Franklin Pierce reunion is in October, there might be some of us who would love one. I have one from my kiddos high school that was replaced. It is hollow and can be used for flowers.
