Annexation policies for Pierce County being revised Sept. 19

[Editor Note: Just received a notice that a quorum will not be present so this meeting is cancelled. The next meeting date is October 17.]

“The Pierce County Regional Council (PCRC) was created to ensure planning between Pierce County and its cities and towns was accomplished in a coordinated consistent manner.  The organization is comprised of elected officials from Pierce County, each of its 23 cities and towns, and the Port of Tacoma.  The primary responsibility of the PCRC is to ensure that the Growth Management Act requirements are coordinated within the County and the region.” form the Pierce County website.

September 19, the PCRC will be considering changed to the policies for annexing unincorporated areas to local cities. These are usueally held at the Pierce County Annex at 6:30 p.m.

The attached agenda item shows the Growth Management Coordinating Committee recommendations for this policy.

Consider Lakewood or Tacoma being interested in annexing Parkland or Spanaway.  Puyallup gradually annexing more portions of South Hill. Sumner taking up more farmland as it converts to industry. This is what these policies are meant to address. Please, read and see the changes highlighted in yellow. If you have concerns attend this meeting. You won’t have the change to speak your mind publicly, you could address your issues with the person on the committee that represents you.
