BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT — On Tuesday, Sept. 24, sheriff’s deputies apprehended a suspect for allegedly communicating threats against a Centennial staff member.
The threats prompted a modified lockdown of the school on Monday, Sept. 23, which lasted the entire school day.
The police investigation was very fluid, as officers followed up on leads. As reported by the media, at one point, there was mention of a bomb threat. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department quickly determined that this particular threat was unsubstantiated. If there had been any indication that the bomb threat was credible, deputies would have evacuated the school. To help maintain the security of the campus, police advised us to remain in a modified lockdown until classes were dismissed.
In circumstances like this, we work closely with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We appreciate the response and the efforts of all individuals involved.

For the record, the suspect willingly TURNED HIMSELF IN. This was all a HUGE MISUNDERSTANDING!!!
