The Roy Planning Commission needs you

ROY, WA — After the Roy City Council meeting Monday night, the Mayor, Karen Yates confided she would really like to have a couple of people step up and take a spot on their Planning Commission. With only three of the required five members currently seated, the commission cannot do business if anyone is absent. Three is required for a quorum.

Mayor Yates noted that you do not have to live in the incorporated City of Roy to be on the Planning Commission. If you have a Roy address and live outside the city, that is fine for this group. It would help if you have an interest in building communities and making sure plans are reviewed for compatibility with quality of life in the area.

Please, step up. The meetings are only once a month on the third Tuesday. The term is for six years.

On October 28, there will be a Finance Committee Meeting to work on the City Budget from 6 to 7 p.m., prior to the usual study session and Council meeting.

Since Veterans Day is Nov. 11, the regular Council meeting that week will be held on November 12, at 6:30 p.m., an hour early.

Monday, December 2 will be the day the council will meet with the Triple Nickel and go select a tree for the annual Tree Lighting which will be held Friday December 6 at the Roy Library.

During the study session, council members discussed yard sales with the city attorney. Apparently, there is city code concerning yard sales. You are allowed no more than 3 each year and they cannot be held for more than 3 days in succession. If you know a neighbor having too much fun with yard sales, you might remind them.
