City of Roy reappoints judge

ROY, WA — At the Roy City Council meeting Monday evening, the council reappointed Thomas Ellington as Judge for the Municipal Court.

In other council business, the Police chief noted they had installed two more pieces of playground equipment at the park and placed a new stop sign on Ronge Street.DSC_8245

The Council passed a substitute ordinance allowing on-line city ordinances as proof of city code.

Prior to the meeting, a budget committee met and their findings were provided for the council to study. As other cities, Roy is trying to deal with more expenses than income. Decision will have to be made on where they can cut back. In addition to the budget, the council will read up on the new marijuana regulations.

Mayor Yates presented information from the Civil War reenactors. They had a wonderful time this summer and plan to return next year. The Mayor suggested wider advertisement of the event to increase turnout.

Councilwoman Raczykowski noted the library board just added 2 new members.DSC_8242

The city Christmas Tree will be cut the afternoon on November 28 and the open house and Tree Lighting will be held on Friday, December 6.
