Come eat a great meal and support Bethel 27, Job’s Daughters International of Parkland, Washington. From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2013 all proceeds of the $6.00 suggested donation will support the members of Bethel 27. Bethel 27 will be holding a community breakfast on the 1st Sunday of each month beginning December 1st.
Job’s Daughters is a community leadership and service group for young ladies. They learn how to plan projects, hold fundraisers to support charities and meet the budget needs of the group. Each member in a leadership position is in charge of planning a fundraiser for the group once every six months. Members not in a leadership position will shadow the member in charge of the project to learn how to plan such events in the future.
The money made from the community breakfast fundraiser will help send the members to a statewide convention in June, help them pay for their rent and supplies, and support charitable causes like Northwest Harvest and HIKE. HIKE, or the Hearing Impaired Kid’s Endowment Fund is the national charity of Job’s Daughters and provides assistive hearing devices for young people around the country.
There are currently 25 local chapters in Washington, and each chapter is called a “Bethel.” Each Bethel meets locally and has fun events as well as service projects and business meetings that are run by the members with the support of adult advisors. Bethel 27 which meets in Parkland currently has members representing the Puyallup, Bethel, Franklin Pierce, Tacoma, and Clover Park School Districts. Additionally they have members studying in college at Tacoma Community College, Pacific Lutheran University and Washington State University.
