Car prowls in Spanaway Park

This is part of a letter from a local resident – if you see someone do this… please report it! Let’s stop these people from ruining our community.

“Speaking of locally, please be careful when you park your car.  On Friday after the fog lifted I drove the dogs to the park and took them for a walk in Spanaway Park.  When I got back my driver’s window had been smashed.  And I mean smashed.
There was glass all over the inside of the car, in the gearshift area, the door pockets, the cracks in the seats, and tons of it on the floor, of course.  I’d left nothing visible in the car, and really didn’t have anything valuable in it.  All I could see they’d done was lift the center console to check inside.  I think they watched me park, saw that I wasn’t carrying a purse, so figured it was still in the car and broke the window to get it.  Since I was only going to the park I hadn’t brought a purse, I’d just tucked my driver’s license in my pocket.
The insurance company told me to be sure and check that they hadn’t taken my car registration.  Some thieves grab that and then rob your house before you can get home.  Car registration was still there.
I know they’ve had at least two car windows smashed while people were inside the post office.  Both times women had left their purses on the seat.  I’m really thinking less and less fondly of Spanaway.
I’ll get the driver’s window, and my cracked windshield replaced Monday. My deductible is $200, which the insurance company will apply to each window separately. The driver’s window is $192, the windshield is around $400.  “
