The finest music students from across Washington have received top honors by being selected to participate in one of the Washington Music Educators Association’s All-State and Junior All-State Honor Groups.
Junior All-State Honors
The Bethel School District sent three elementary students to participate in this prestigious event including Makayla Fischer from the Graham Elementary Choir, Brinley Van Gieson from the Nelson Elementary Choir, and Demetria Whitfield from the Spanaway Elementary Choir.
The Junior All-State Choral Concert, with a Treble Choir and a Mixed Choir, included Marisa Manatu and Madeline Neigel from the Frontier Middle School choral program.
The instrumental groups, including a Chamber Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Wind Ensemble, included Lexi Harkrider from the Bethel Middle School Orchestra, and Alexis Chouinard from the Frontier Middle School Band.
All-State Honors
Singing in the All-State Treble Choir was Ashley Brown, Megan Brown, Casey Park and Alyssa Stull from Graham-Kapowsin High School, and Alisha Long from Spanaway Lake High School.
Corey Johnson (SLHS) performed in the All-State Wind Ensemble and Austin Marron (BHS) and Jacob Walker (GKHS) played in the All-State Concert Band.
The All-State Symphonic Choir included:
SLHS: Jeff Canonizado, Bradford Clark, David Glessman, Liam Kerschner, Ryan O’Neal, Shaina Stuckey, Elijah Umipeg and Kayla Waycaster
BHS: Danica Cosme
GKHS: Laura Hurtado, Nate Infausto and Hannah Porter
