Parkland Cinco de Mayo planning notes

Hello Cinco Group:

Here is our Wed., Apr. 23rd meeting updates about Parkland/Reyna’s Cinco de Mayo Music Festival, incl.Craft-Vendor Fair,from Sat.,May 3rd,(11-6)-Sun.May 4th,(11-1),with last mtg.before Fair on Wed., May 30th, 5pm at Reyna’s, (see Parkland/Reyna’s Cinco de Mayo flyer in the sidebar):

*The Cinco de Mayo Gift Basket is complete,(showed pic at meeting tonight):

*The white cotton fabric is cut for scarves and bandanas to be painted by kids;

*The hand-made Maracas/Shakers, (Karen brought examples for Cinco group);

*The plastic poster-size murals are cut,to be painted/displayed in Garfield biz;

*Add’l Ready-Made Murals and Tablecloths are provided for Craft/Vendor Tables;

*Add’l Craft and Decorating Supplies provided, (for kids to have variety of activities);

*Cinco Family Parade,(at 12-12:20),with kids using Maraca shakers for music;

*12:30-1:00: Cinco Pinata,(w/Candy),with Felix in Sombrero,(for pics w/kids).

We will have at least 5 tables for Craft Vendors,so that includes the following:

Kate’s info.booth is adjacent to house,(have maps & Span.-Engl.flyers & GSBA),.

Kevin,Karen,Kurt,Kate,Diane as hosts of those tables,(reserved booth space);

Rob and Lindsey design jewelry and both requested tables recently also;

Nick’s table, (maybe Mexican Garden Network), have PLU/Pkld Mural Flyers;

Four Tables and Chairs available for Vendors,esp. Spanish Goods and Services!!

Trinity Lutheran is hosting Spanish Mass Service, (11am), w/Fiesta Meal,(12-1).

Diane explained that a Processional was listed first,on Trinity’s info. handout.

Diane following up w/Tacoma Weekly and TNT event posts,plus her blogs and emails.Kate following up  emails to Non-Profit Network and Dia Fair at Puyallup Library on Sat.,April 26th,to share handbills and flyers with Vendors,(to promote our 2014 event and Cinco Appl.for 2015),.Parkland’s Cinco de Mayo Committee hopes to have table at LollaPLUza,(Nick f/u w/PLU),.We can also promote Cinco & Garfield Events on Garfield St.Porch, (for LollaPLUza,Sat.,May 10th). Our last meeting is next Wed.,April 30th,5pm at Reyna’s Mexican Restaurant!!

Please come to this meeting,to answer questions or feedback about event plan.

We will have maps of event area,with majority of Cinco event planned for Garfield Park and Parking area,for Vendor and Craft Tables,(people will take maps,to be initialed by Vendors and businesses,for entry to win gift basket),.We will ask for email or phone,to contact winner of Cinco gift basket,(GSBA members provided).

There will also be Spanish-style Vintage and Modern Cars Featured at Sat. Fair!!

Two Porto-Potties are available for Sat.event.Fire Marshall Application, w/Map was submitted to Pierce County,with inspection on day of the fair.GSBA providing Fire Extinguishers and Pierce County Sherriff/Police notified about our Sat.Cinco Fair.

*We hope to have Mexican-American Murals in Garfield Businesses for Event.We are consulting with Kurt,Mt.Rainier High School Arts Group on this project.Add’l Materials for Mural Art will be available and hope for Kevin’s group to help with this project.Additional Posters of Event will be distributed in Garfield/Parkland soon!!
