Scandinavian Cultural Center 25th Anniversary

PARKLAND, WA — On Saturday, May 10th, the Scandinavian Cultural DSC_6972Center (SCC) at Pacific Lutheran University held it’s Annual Spring Banquet as a Silver Jubilee, their 25th Anniversary Celebration. Dr. Elisabeth Ward, Director of the SCC hosted the evening’s events which featured Dr. Thomas Krise, President of PLU, an invocation by the Reverend Edward Larsen and a very special award presented to the Past President of the SCC, Ms. Kim Kittilsby.

DSC_6939Entertainment for the evening was Ms. Lise Olden, Norwegian singer and songwriter whose lilting voice brought beautiful sounds to the audience. Also extremely entertaining were the comediennes Tina and Lena. The ability of the Scandinavians to poke humor at themselves is legendary. Tina and Lena, in their garish costumes, classic accents and silly antics brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

On a more official level, the center commissioned a new work of art for the Silver Jubilee. Donors were recognized and special recognition went to Dr. Richard Klein and Mark Ottoson. Raffle drawings and a celebratory toast rounded out the evening’s events.
